Jillian was gracious enough to answer some questions to discuss her side of the story and to explain her feelings at the time of the event.

Paige Brewer, daughter of Jillian |
Richard: When did you first know that your daughter was talking to Jonathon?
Jillian: I didn't find out about him until after she ran off. I did some digging online, as well as all my friends. I can't remember exactly how the connection was made. She had only mentioned him once before and I didn't know she was talking to him. I thought it was some crazy guy online she was reading about. She was living with my mother who didn't follow my strict rules with Paige -- she thought that she knew better. I said no internet but Paige was allowed to do whatever she wanted when she was with grandma. So she met him in a chat room and he preyed on her daddy issues, the exact thing I always tried to protect her from Richard: When were you first made aware that your daughter went missing? Jillian: My mother called as soon as she found the note Paige left and that's when I immediately started looking online for clues. When I found his MySpace and the proposal video, that's when I knew he had her. Richard: What was going on through your mind during the week and a half that your daughter was with him? Jillian: I was scared to death for her. Not that he would hurt her by beating or anything, but I knew he was doing irreparable damage. He brainwashed her into hating us and raped her. She's still convinced that because she consented (at age 16) that he didn't do anything wrong. I was scared to death of all of this. I was frantic. I was reaching out to local law enforcement, FBI, Secret Service (he has an agent assigned to him who was helping me), reporters, hell the Steve Wilkos show called ME. My only focus was on her. I didn't go to work, I barely slept or ate. I literally wanted to hunt him down and strangle him for touching my daughter. I won't lie, he's lucky I have never met him in person. Richard: During this time, did your daughter or Jonathon try to reach out to you directly? Jillian: Yes, there was one or two emails from her but I suspected it was really him, including the comments left on City Pages. Mostly he posted to me publicly like that awful video he posted on YouTube, the one calling me a drug addict and child abuser. Richard: Was it true that your daughter wanted to be emancipated from you or was that just an excuse used by Jonathon to get his hands of your daughter? Jillian: Paige was already living with her Grandma, at her insistence because grandma had no rules. The week before she ran away, she made a video about how much she loved all of us. I don't believe it was in her head at all before he came around...no more than any other teenage girl. Richard: When the police finally removed Paige from Jonathon and returned her to your custody, what was her feelings towards you? Happy? Begrudging? Apologetic? Jillian: Angry, plus she went through a lot of teasing at the new school. I lived in a very upscale community and they didn't treat her kindly -- they were very cruel. Paige was always an angry child, loving her through this time was challenging but through all her anger, I tried to reassure her that Jonathon was the one to blame and that we loved her. Richard: The police couldn't prove that Jonathon Sharkey sexually touched your daughter during their time together. Did Paige ever reveal that they were sexually active during that time? Jillian: It took her years, but yes. Just recently I asked her: "Just tell me the truth, did you sleep with him?" She looked really embarrassed and said: "Yes, and he was really scary. He growled." I didn't want more details. I have urged her to come forward to the police but she refuses and still defends this pedophile. Richard: Is there anything you'd like to share before we wrap up the interview? Jillian: This man is a sick freak who preys on young vulnerable girls because he can't get real women. I hope this interview helps, and I hope there are no more future victims. Someone needs to stop him -- permanently!

I want to thank Jillian for taking the time to speak with me. To read the original story with sources, go to: The Minnesota Runaway (2010)
Unfortunately there ARE other victims and I'm sure he's probably working on more as we speak bcuz he is a SICK, VILE, DISGUSTING CHILD MOLESTOR that doesn't know when to STOP and back the FUCK off young girls!! Bcuz like you said Jillian, he can't get a REAL WOMAN for himself bcuz no REAL WOMAN in her right frame of mind would EVER want ANYTHING to do with him let alone EVER letting this sick freak touch them! He has NOTHING going for him... not even LOOKS!! Well except his brainwashing/grooming specialty that warps and twists the minds of young impressionable CHILDREN!!!! I'm sorry you and daughter had to go through all the torture and mental and emotional anguish that this SICK piece of TRASH caused you... believe me when I say that bcuz my daughter and I are going through it too.... only my daughter wants NOTHING to do with him EVER again and he can't seem to get that through his thick delusional twisted skull!!! Hopefully he will soon enough!!!!
ReplyDeletegod, the list of shit this guy does seems endless. i'm sending a big hug to all the victims and their families. they don't deserve this.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaking and sick all at once. This was quite difficult to read. Thanks for speaking out, Jillian. I cant imagine how difficult it's been for you, Melissa's and countless other families.
ReplyDeleteMaking animal sounds during sex? Eww! Was he making pig noises because that's what he is, a disgusting PIG!
ReplyDeleteThis guy needs to be put in prison.
ReplyDeletewow great Q and A .. it was hard to read having being a single Dad of two Teenage girls. my heart goes out to u and your family Jillian.
ReplyDeleteI just read "The Minnesota Runaway" after reading this interview along with the sources. I feel terrible for Jillian. I feel even sadder that Paige thinks the Impaler didn't do anything wrong. That's the worst crime besides the sex. I hope Paige wakes up one day and realizes that this guy took advantage of her. Even if it was her idea for him to come and get her, he didn't have to take advantage of her naive behavior. He knew better. They should hang sickos like him.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you, Jillian.
