Sharkey in Jail! |
She was a 16-year old from Rochester, Minnesota, the state where Sharkey announced his bid for governor in 2006 before it came to a crashing stop after being arrested for stalking and escape charges in Indiana.
According to reports, the girl messaged Sharkey through his MySpace page. They began online dating and he bragged about it on his blog. He proclaimed with glee that he was going back to Minnesota for her. However, the blog entries went from celebratory to threatening when he contacted the U.S. Deparment of Justice for reasons too absurd to believe.
On Sharkey's old blog, he wrote:
"Per my conversation this morning with a member of your staff, I am writing to request your office investigate and then prosecute my former girlfriend *name removed* for being part of a domestic terrorist group who have repeatedly threaten to assassinate me for almost two years now."Sharkey decided to show his "fangs" when the 16-year old girl tried to end the relationship. When he wouldn't take no for an answer, she made a desperate excuse, claiming she couldn't see him anymore because she belonged to an elite vampire hunter society. This further exasperated the situation as he accused her of being a domestic terrorist and threatened her family. The underage girl, in way over her head, felt she had to follow his demands and continue the relationship.
Shortly after, her parents discovered the online relationship. Sharkey threatened her parents via e-mail and telephone. Her father ordered him to cease contact with his daughter, but Sharkey, making it a habit to miss the point, would continue to harass the the minor.
A police sergeant contacted Sharkey about the matter. The self-proclaimed vampire rambled about his political aspirations and claimed that the Rochester girl was his wife and princess despite her wanting nothing more to do with him. Sharkey was ordered for a court hearing but was able to get it continuance due to having knee having surgery. Before the scheduled hearing, Sharkey threatened the county attorney's office for wrongful and vindictive persecution. He failed to appear at his court hearing and a warrant was sent out for his arrest.
In September of 2008, Sharkey was arrested in Grundy County, Tennessee for various charges, including the harassment of the 16-year old Rochester girl. In the summer of 2009, Sharkey would plead guilty in Minnesota and would be sentenced to 180 days in jail, which the courts deemed served. He would still sit in jail, awaiting extradition to Indiana where he faced charges for threatening a judge and his family.
The girl he harassed had strong words for Jonathon "The Impaler" Sharkey:
“I hope he lives out the rest of his life with nothing but misery and shame."
The father also made a sadly prophetic statement:
“I would like this to be the end of this," the father said, “although I fear that it may not be."
Sharkey would indeed go on to harass, stalk, and brainwash other impressionable teenagers. There is currently an ordeal happening in Florida. More on that event later.
